Notes that an element of legal uncertainty has now arisen as a consequence of the difficulty in interpreting how the Directive should be applied to split-screen, interactive services and advertising or sponsorship linked to the use of virtual imaging technology; notes, further, that any interpretation of advertising rules must help to preserve the integrity of broadcast works, in which connection the principle of the clear separation of advertising and programmes must be observed;
