c) «zona continentale»: una precisa area geografica, situata nella parte continentale del territorio di uno o più Stati membri caratterizzata da un sistema idrologico omogeneo comprendente parti di un bacino idrografico incluse tra le sorgenti e una barriera naturale o artificiale che impedisca la migrazione a ritroso degli animali acquatici dai tratti inferiori del bacino, o un intero bacino idrografico dalle sorgenti all'estuario, oppure più di un bacino, inclusi i loro estuari a causa del legame epidemiologico tra i diversi bacini idrografici attraverso l'estuario;
‘continental zone’ means a precise geographic area situated on the continental part of one or more Member State(s) with a homogenous hydrological system comprising parts of a water catchment area from the source(s) to a natural or artificial barrier that prevents the upward migration of aquatic animals from lower stretches of the water catchment area, an entire water catchment area from its source(s) to its estuary, or more than one water catchment area, including their estuaries, due to the epidemiological link between the catchment areas through the estuary;
