Jack McConnell, primo ministro dell'esecutivo scozzese, membro del CdR e presidente della Conferenza dei presidenti delle regioni europee con potere legislativo (Regleg), ha definito il dialogo un "enorme progresso", ma ha insistito sul fatto che esso deve essere "reale e significativo" per raggiungere l'obiettivo di avvicinarsi ai cittadini e per far funzionare l'Europa allargata.
Jack McConnell, First Minister of Scotland, CoR member and President of the Conference of European Regions with Legislative Power (REGLEG), described it as a “huge step forward” but insisted that the dialogue had to be “real and meaningful” in order to achieve genuine engagement with the citizen and to make the enlarged Union work.
