The Anti-terrorism Act introduced several changes to the Act formerly known as the Official Secrets Act, including renaming it the Security of Information Act (SOIA) and creating new offences relating to economic espionage, communication of safeguarded information to foreign entities or terrorist groups, and committing violence or threats at the direction of a foreign entity or terrorist group for the purpose of harming Canadian interests.
La Loi antiterroriste a apporté plusieurs modifications à l’ancienne Loi sur les secrets officiels. Elle l’a notamment rebaptisée Loi sur la protection de l’information (LPI) et a créé de nouvelles infractions se rapportant à l’espionnage économique, à la communication de renseignements protégés à des entités étrangères ou des groupes terroristes ainsi qu’aux violences commises ou aux menaces proférées pour le compte d’une entité étrangère ou d’un groupe terroriste en vue de porter atteinte aux intérêts canadiens.
