In my opinion, as I mentioned here, it is a little premature to organize the studies based on 600 or 700 patients or 1,000 patients when we do not know, in smaller placebo-controlled trials, 100 to 200 people, which are called phase I/II studies, whether there is clearly a positive sign to conduct larger randomized control trials.

Ms. Baylis: I was going to take the opportunity to say that we have here in Canada a couple of people in research ethics who have made significant contributions to the international literature on the issue of placebo-controlled trials, me-too drugs and the issue of ensuring that if you are looking at researching a new compound, you want to compare it to the best available intervention and not compare it to a placebo, nothing.

Elles se sont penchées également sur l'utilité, lorsqu'on effectue une recherche sur un nouveau composé, de le comparer au meilleur produit disponible plutôt qu'à un placebo.
