Before giving the floor to the spokespeople of the political groups, I would like – on behalf of Parliament and on my own behalf – to thank you for your work at the head of the Commission, and point out that you took up your post at a particularly difficult time in the history of Europe, and that five years later – at the end of your mandate – Europe has undergone certain historic transformations.

Je tiens à souligner que vous avez pris vos fonctions à un moment particulièrement difficile dans l’histoire européenne et que cinq années plus tard, au terme de votre mandat, l’Europe a connu plusieurs mutations historiques.
