Obviously, we cannot sum up hundreds of pages of requirements in a few minutes, but, for the purposes of this hearing, we can tell you that the National Building Code sets out two major types of building construction: buildings required to be of non- combustible construction, mainly for fire safety reasons; and buildings permitted to be of combustible construction.
