Where a Canadian or permanent resident of Canada is alleged to have committed a child sexual offence in a foreign country and that country assumes jurisdiction, Canada supports the investigation and prosecution, as appropriate, including through Mutual Legal Assistance treaties and/or international treaties such as the Optional Protocol to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child on the Sale of Child, Child Prostitution and Child Pornography.
