2. Institut des Transuraniens (ITU) - Karlsruhe (D) L'ITU travaille dans la formation des chercheurs utilisant des éléments transuraniens, dans la recherche d'incinération de déchets nucléaires et en immunothérapie alpha pour le traitement du cancer.

Ceci a permis à ITU d'établir une production limitée de 213Bi et 225Ac soumise au contrôle de qualité et de concevoir un générateur stable de 213Bi pour l´approvisionnement des hôpitaux (comme le Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center), où il est utilisé pour des essais cliniques de traitement par radio immunothérapie du cancer.

This has allowed ITU to set up a limited quality controlled production of these nuclides and design a stable 213Bi generator for transport to the hospitals (such as Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center), where it is used for the clinical testing of the radio-immunotherapeutical treatment of cancer.

Le projet en cours le plus avancé repose sur plusieurs années de développement commun, avec des sociétés privées, des instituts de recherche et des hôpitaux internationaux. Il consiste en la mise en oeuvre de la phase I des essais cliniques, utilisant le 213Bi en immunothérapie, sur des patients atteint de leucémie myélogène aiguë, au Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center à New York.
