B. considerando che il verdetto del tribunale di primo grado è stato pronunciato il 12 maggio 2014 e ha condannato Meriam Ibrahim, allora all'ottavo mese di gravidanza, a cento frustate per l'accusa di adulterio e alla morte per impiccagione per l'accusa di apostasia, concedendole tre giorni di tempo per rinunciare al cristianesimo; che Meriam Ibrahim è stata condannata secondo la legge islamica (Sharia) in vigore nel Sudan dal 1983, che vieta la conversione e la punisce con la morte; che il 15 maggio 2014 il verdetto è stato confermato poiché Meriam Ibrahim ha deciso di non convertirsi all'Islam;
B. whereas the verdict of the court of first instance was delivered on 12 May 2014, sentencing Meriam Ibrahim, then eight months pregnant, to a hundred lashes on charges of adultery and to death by hanging on charges of apostasy, but giving her three days to renounce Christianity; whereas Meriam Ibrahim was convicted under Islamic sharia law, in force in Sudan since 1983, which outlaws conversions on pain of death; whereas on 15 May 2014 the verdict was reconfirmed, as Meriam Ibrahim chose not to convert to Islam;
