Tra il 1991 e il 1994 la rete portoghese di telediffusione era di proprietà dell’impresa pubblica TDP SA. Dal 1994 la proprietaria della rete divenne la Portugal Telecom, impresa nata dalla fusione tra la Telecom Portugal SA, la Telefones de Lisboa e Porto SA e la TDP SA. Dopo il costituirsi della Portugal Telecom, lo Stato ridusse progressivamente la sua partecipazione nella società: nel 1995, mediante offerta pubblica, ne vendette il 26,3 % e nel giugno 1996, mediante asta pubblica, ne vendette un’altra parte, riducendo al 51 % la propria partecipazione.
Between 1991 and 1994 the television broadcasting network was owned by the public company TDP SA. After 1994 the network was owned by Portugal Telecom, a company created from the combination of Telecom Portugal SA, Telefones de Lisboa e Porto SA and TDP SA. After the creation of Portugal Telecom, the State periodically decreased its holding in the company. In 1995 26,3 % was sold in a public offering. A second tranche was auctioned in June 1996, bringing state ownership down to 51 %.
